Monogatari Series Second Season Episode 8: We have to go back and save 9/11!

Screen Shot 2013-08-24 at 12.53.18 PM

The past few episodes have been absolutely amazing.  Therefore, it’s inevitable that eventually, the pace will have to slow down, and there will have to be “filler”-y weeks where more time is spent just developing rather than actually doing something.  This episode was not one of those weeks.  A ton happened in this episode.

It was just executed horribly.

AMT: Bracket Fate R1 Picks 5-8 review: Searching for Odin, My Love

This Bracket had a LOT of 80’s sounding tracks, including the sleeper hit “The Search of Odin”.  I enjoyed most of them.

Uchouten Kazoku Episode 7: Daddy Issues

UK Episode 7 OP

The last few episodes left me really confused about the point of the show. The first few episodes were primarily about setting the scene, and confronting Yasaburo’s father’s death was presented the primary internal conflict; avoiding a similar fate at the hands of Benten seemed like a lesser, albeit more physical, side effect. Attack on Titan Episode 6 — 残酷な世界

Attack on Titan Ep 6 OP

Attack on Titan continues to tease us by continuing to give Eren relevance even though, at this point, he is dead.  This episode, we are treated to the aftermath of the battle in which Eren died, and then move to Mikasa to get backstory on both Eren and Mikasa.  In the process, this episode hits swiftly and precisely on all of the key themes vocalized thus far in the plot, emphasizing that the world as it exists in the physical constantly takes precedence over the world as it is perceived by humanity. Suisei no Gargantia Episode 5 — “Why is this necessary?”

Gargantia Ep 5 OP

Suisei no Gargantia has been interesting to follow not because of the plot itself (thus far, it’s just been a foreigner trying to integrate into a new society), but because every moment of it has “Butcher” Gen Urobuchi lurking in the background.  Questions about the direction of the story aren’t motivated by “what would be logical given the information we have thus far?” but rather by “What Would Urobutcher Do?”  Continue reading
